The appraisal consists of a multi-page, computerized format, usually 4-5 pages.
Pre-buy inspections can range from 8-10 pages. In addition to an evaluation of the vehicle, there are also general mechanical and electrical component evaluation sections and functionality of all components. A large file of photos accompanies the report. A body report is issued, incorporating results from an Electronic Digital Thickness Gauge. This gauge "reads" the mil thickness of body panels. Test drive results also included.
Cost approach appraisals of high line investment grade vehicles range from 6-7 pages.
As stated in previous pages, an in person inspection is not required, if it is prohibited by distance or location. With the proper information and photos, a desk top appraisal can be as accurate as an in person appraisal.
