THERE'S A GOOD ARTICLE BY ARVID SVENDSON ON THIS CAR, PAGES 36-39.I'VE LISTED MANY CARS, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START OR STOP ON THIS ONE. IT WOULD TAKE PAGES OF TEXT TO DESCRIBE. I have been parked next to this bare bones car at shows and there are two reactions; Many people walk right by. But the fun begins when someone who knows these cars walks over for a look. A lengthy conversation with the owner usually ensues. This amazing asphalt melter spent the majority of it's early life as a NHRA Stock Eliminator Drag Car. For most of it's racing career, the original motor and trans were changed out for a 427. The car was body-off restored in the early '90's, when OEM and NOS parts were still available. The factory matching engine and trans were recovered from the original owner. After the restoration was complete, the car was put in storage, where it remained until purchased by the current owner.>br> The current owner, being somewhat of a fanatic, refreshed the car to it's current Gold Spinner condition. All bolts, fasteners, clips, washers, etc. were purchased from a Corvette parts distributor.(Remember, OEM correct L78 Corvette parts are still available. He even installed the proper "Silver Seal" cork valve cover gaskets! And of course, four T-3 headlights. This head turner is finished in single stage Regal Red enamel. The quality is unsurpassed- freshly wet sanded, buffed, and show detailed. Fit and finish on all panels is excellent. All chrome and stainless has either been redone, replaced, or repolished. All glass is excellent. Windshield replaced- the rest original. 8.25x14 black sidewall tires and dog dish hubcaps. Even the hubcaps were sent out and completely refurbished. Red Interior is original except for the carpet and headliner! Seats, door panels, package shelf, etc in excellent condition. Dash, guages, and steering wheel also excellent. Basic bare bones interior. Bench seat, 7,000 RPM tach, AM radio, four speed. That's it. 396-425 HP L78 engine. Rebuilt and show detailed. Everything stock, everything correct, down to the NOS AC 44N spark plugs. Check the pictures. M21 four speed, original shifter and OEM boot. Born with a 4.88 gear, now a 3.73 for street driving. Housing and tubes original. Built second week of June, 1965. Born Regal Red with Red interior. Engine code T0501IE. Sold at Heinrich Motors Inc., Rochester, NY. As stated previously, it is a numbers matching engine and trans. Everything else is either original, correct, OEM, or NOS except for the fuel pump. Documents include Protect-O-Plate, Build Sheet, and original owner's manual. I can't see how you could have any questions, but if you do, email me. Please don't barrage me with emails asking for the number and date codes on the muffler bracket, etc. This car is what I say it is. If you have any doubt, make an appointmet to inspect it. Many of you have seen it in "Coming soon" on my website and have called for a price in the past. As you will remember, I said $60,000 buys it. Attention! Owner has reevaluated his position and lowered the price! GO TO EBAY NOW-2452194227 AND BID!
